Habitat
It was the Romanian sculptor/photographer Constantin Brancusi who said that "architecture is inhabited sculpture". Good buildings really are art and that applies as much to older buildings as it does to new. And architects are artists.
The way a building is designed and the rooms are lit, whether by direct or diffused daylight, sunlight, electricty or candlelight, can, like art, impress or depress, welcome or repel.
As a photographer I have some control over the light and judicious use of hot lights, gels and even strobes can complement natural light. But above all it is experience, patience, reflexion and the time of day that make the difference.
